Anybody who talks smack about Armenians today is gonna get hit

I mean it man. I’m tired of people going “Who cares about the Armenian genocide, only like a million people died. The Holocaust was way worse.”

Ok, sure, more Jews and gypsies and homosexuals died in the Holocaust, but the ratios of the deceased to the previous population is much more harrowing for the Armenian Genocide.

The Armenian population was spread out pretty evenly throughout the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian population in Constantinople dwarved that of Yerevan (the modern day Armenian capital) by nearly 15,000. The total population in the Ottoman empire hovered around 1,300,000..

Then after a small group of Armenians pledged allegiance to the Russians, things got a bit shitty. All Armenians were sent on death marches to either modern day Lebanon, Syria or Armenia. Small villages would get ravaged and people murdered and mutilated. Christians of all ethnic groups were murdered due to the fact that Armenians follow the oldest denomination of Christianity.

By 1918 the population was cut back by nearly 80 percent. That figures out to be about.. 250,000 people. Down from 1.3 million. This doesn’t include the Armenian populations in Russia that were killed by the Bolsheviks during WWI.

Now, so if anybody has the gall, the pure ignorance to discredit what happened from 1914-1918 is getting their teeth knocked in. I don’t even care. Fuck you for not thinking that the near destruction of a race of people and their culture isn’t worth honoring for a day. Fuck you for not sympathizing with people who lost entire chunks of their family.

Like.. Christ. Had the Young Turks been successful in annihilating the Armenians, I would have holes in my life. My best friend all through school, Alan, is a Persian-Armenian whose great grandparents fled for modern day Iran after the initial group of 200 Armenian intellectuals were hung in 1914 fearing the following wake of violence. My coworker Eddie is the funniest guy I know. His family was one of the few lucky families that fled to modern day Belarus that didnt get killed by the Russians. The extremely girl I’ve been seeing for the past few months, Teni, is one of the most beautiful, bright and witty individuals I’ve ever met. She is the great granddaughter of survivors of the many death marched the Armenians were subjugated to for the 4 years the genocide went on.

So again.. crack any Armo jokes, talk shit about the genocide — you’re gonna get hit. Hard. In the teeth.

Sometimes I hate the ignorant shits that live in my city..

Sincerely yours, Jackson (100% non-Armenian)

PS - Happy Easter for you Christian types :p As for the rest of us non-Christians.. Happy Discount Chocolate Buying Day!
