Hi :) I just wanted to ask what you would consider Streetlight to be if they're not ska? Not denying or attacking your statement, just curious :)
They’re a punk band with a horn section and klezmer tendencies :P They get lumped in with the ska crowd because.. well.. horns. Every good ska band has horns right? (sarcasm) If you break down their songs and look at it purely from a music theory standpoint, their music shares nothing in common with ska music (other than the instrumentation). True, they do occasionally play songs styled like third wave ska, however on the whole they are not a ska band :)
Just so we're absolutely clear..
Streetlight Manifesto isn’t ska. I love them to pieces, but they are no ska band.
